Human Design is a system that acknowledges both our conscious and unconscious parts. It identifies three crystals of consciousness: the Design Crystal (Body), the Personality Crystal (Soul), and the Magnetic Monopole (MM), which holds the Design (Body) and Personality (Soul) together in the illusion of our separateness. The MM or Heart Chakra is often called “the the seat of our soul”. It establishes our identity as a direction through time and space. Although these are not actual crystals, they are highly effective for visualization.
At Conception, the Fetus is endowed or established with the Design Crystal (body), and the Magnetic Monopole holds the two together for its unique destiny. The Personality Crystal (soul) only enters the body once it’s fully formed, approximately three months before birth or 88 degrees of the Sun’s movement before we are born; this is our Design Date or Design Crystal. It does not matter if you were born prematurely or via C-section. The calculation is based on where the planets aligned on the day your soul entered your body and the day of your birth. Each one of us chose to be here at this exact moment in time and our unique energetic blueprint. Together the Design and Personality make up our energetic soul map.
From the day we are born, our personality is constantly in the aura of our surroundings, parents, siblings, and the people who raise us. By age seven, we have had several layers of uncontrollable expectations & conditioning from our outside environment, causing our authentic selves to be hidden underneath the layers. As we continue to grow, we have unavoidably been conditioned to believe who we think we are. Our natural curiosity about our open centers is attracted to people with defined centers. We absorb others’ frequency & it puts pressure on our openness & tricks our mind into thinking about everything we are missing. Our environment and other’s defined centers are continually conditioning us.
The Design Crystal represents our body or vehicle and originates from Earth. It is located in the Ajna center, which is situated between the eyebrows and is considered unconscious or how others perceive us. The Design Crystal is marked on the left side of the Human Design chart in red (or green), corresponding to our body. This represents our “Design” date (our unconscious) and is calculated approximately three months before our birth when our soul enters our body. Our body serves as a vessel for our consciousness to navigate this world. It takes us where we are meant to go, gives us our experiences, and carries out our unique destiny.
The Personality crystal is not from earth and is often referred to as our soul; it is the passenger consciousness in our body, is located above the skull & is the intelligence that recognizes who we think we are. It is displayed in black (or purple) on the right side of our soul map, represents our “personality,” and is calculated on the day of our birth. The MM Crystal is much like the Uber/Lyft driver who knows our destination and guides us toward it. However, we are usually conditioned to use our minds to make decisions instead of allowing our bodies to guide us.
Together, our body and soul make our unique soul map. Our unique strategy and authority are decisive in where we are going. If we live according to our design (authentic selves) and do not make decisions with our minds as society teaches, the driver/magnetic monopole (in the center of the chart) takes us to the right places and experiences. When we live in our not-self or conditioned self, we allow the passenger (Personality Crystal/mind) to interfere with the driver, ultimately taking us to our not-self places and experiences in life. When we get off track and go to the wrong places, we are no longer in tune with ourselves and living out of alignment, often expressed through illnesses and other painful experiences.
The Magnetic Monopole also comes from the Earth, and its task is to attract the other two crystals and hold them together for their unique destiny. Without it, the body and Soul would not stay together.
